Community Involvement

At Matrix HR, we are committed to giving back to our community through meaningful support for various causes.

Our Commitment to Social Responsibility

Ronald McDonald House Charities

At Matrix HR, we believe in making a difference beyond the workplace. That’s why we proudly support Ronald McDonald House Charities, an organization dedicated to providing a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill children.

  • As part of the Home for Dinner program, our team comes together to prepare and serve warm, nutritious meals for families staying at Ronald McDonald House. We recognize that during difficult times, something as simple as a home-cooked meal can offer comfort and relief to parents and caregivers who are focused on their child’s recovery.
  • We also actively participate in Hustle for the House, a charity run that raises essential funds to help cover accommodations, meals, and support services for families navigating childhood cancer and other serious illnesses. Our team is not only committed to running but also to fundraising, ensuring that families in need have access to critical resources during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

At Matrix HR, giving back is part of who we are. We are honored to stand with Ronald McDonald House Charities in their mission to keep families close when they need it most.

Empowering Indigenous Girls Through Our Partnership with Stardale Women’s Group

At Matrix HR, we believe in the power of community, education, and opportunity. As Golden Sponsors of the Stardale Women’s Group, we are committed to supporting Indigenous girls from First Nations communities across Alberta, including the Cree, Blackfoot, Dene, Nakota Sioux, and Métis Nations. Our partnership is more than just financial—it is hands-on, ensuring these young women have the tools and resources they need to overcome barriers and achieve success.

Our Commitment in Action
  • Providing Monthly Dinners – We host regular dinners, ensuring the girls and their families receive nutritious meals. For some, these meals are the only stable source of nourishment they receive all week. We also provide take-home meals to support them throughout the week.
  • Donating Essential Items – From clothing and school supplies to hygiene products, we provide critical resources that help these young women feel prepared, confident, and valued.
  • Advocating for Their Future – We actively promote Stardale’s fundraisers and initiatives, amplifying their mission to break the cycles of poverty, violence, and systemic barriers that disproportionately affect Indigenous women and girls.
  • Supporting Education & Graduation – Our efforts have contributed to 20 Indigenous girls successfully graduating from high school, an achievement that will impact generations to come.

At Matrix HR, we don’t just provide workforce solutions—we invest in the communities we serve. Our ongoing commitment to Stardale Women’s Group is a reflection of our belief that every girl deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Supporting Cancer Research & Care with the Alberta Cancer Foundation

At Matrix HR, we’re passionate about giving back to causes that create lasting impact. That’s why we are proud supporters of both the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta—two incredible organizations dedicated to improving lives through cancer research, treatment, and support.

Our Impact

Partnering with the Alberta Cancer Foundation
We support the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s mission to advance cancer research, enhance patient care, and improve treatment outcomes for Albertans facing cancer.

  • Running for a Cause – Our team has participated in numerous charity runs and fundraising initiatives to raise awareness and funds for those affected by cancer.
  • Over $5,000 Raised – Through these efforts, we’ve proudly donated over $5,000 to support critical programs, life-saving research, and patient services.

Rising to the High Hopes Challenge with Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta

We’re also proud to support the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta through the High Hopes Challenge—a unique event bringing together Calgary business leaders and childhood cancer survivors for a day of physical and mental challenges at Camp Kindle.

  • A One-of-a-Kind Legacy – Our CEO, Shannon Warren, had the honour of being a High Hopes Challenger twice—in 2015 and again in 2022—making him the only leader to participate twice since the program’s inception in 2011.
  • Raising Big for Little Fighters – Each High Hopes Challenger commits to raising $10,000 to $15,000 to support Camp Kindle, a haven for kids with cancer and their families.
  • More Than a Challenge – The event pairs challengers with kid coaches (childhood cancer patients or survivors) to tackle creative, team-based challenges that build empathy, communication, and community spirit.

“Being part of the High Hopes Challenge was more than a fundraiser—it was a deeply personal experience and a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of these incredible kids.” – Shannon Warren, CEO, Matrix HR

Empowering Newcomers Through Mentorship & Workforce Integration

At Matrix HR, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a successful career, regardless of where they come from. That’s why we actively support newcomers to Canada by providing mentorship, hands-on experience, and employment pathways that help them integrate into the workforce and their communities.

Our Contributions to Newcomer Success
  • Centre for Newcomers – Through our collaboration with the Centre for Newcomers, we provide career guidance, job placement assistance, and mentorship programs that help immigrants transition into the Canadian Labour market. Our team offers resume-building support, interview preparation, and industry insights to equip newcomers with the skills and confidence needed to secure meaningful employment.
  • Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) – We have participated in mentorship programs that focus on career coaching, professional networking, and skills development. By working directly with newcomers, we help them adapt to the Canadian job market, refine their job search strategies, and connect with potential employers in their respective fields.
  • The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) – As part of our commitment to workplace integration, we have hosted immigrant women for internships, providing them with hands-on experience and professional networking opportunities. These internships help bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that immigrant women gain real-world industry exposure and increase their employability.
  • Trades & Skilled Labour Opportunities – Recognizing the high demand for skilled Labour in Canada, we provide newcomers with access to training, certifications, and employment pathways in trades. We work with industry leaders to help newcomers obtain Canadian work experience, which is essential for long-term career success.

At Matrix HR, we are more than a staffing solutions provider—we are a bridge to opportunity, inclusion, and career growth. By supporting newcomers through mentorship, training, and employment, we help build a stronger, more diverse workforce for Canada’s future.
